Edmund is checking his sprouts. The mason jar is half filled and the lentils are starting to bud, yellow-green stems poking out. Edmund likes the entire DIY process. Researching, learning, watching the project come to life then figuring out how to optimize: better, faster, stronger.

Edmund has turned his small kitchen into a lab of sorts: making his own sparkling water, creating yogurt, brewing kombucha. Maybe it’s because he’s an engineer by training. Or maybe it’s because he’s a computer scientist by vocation. Or, though he feels vulnerable about it, that he’s an artist at heart.

Edmund he has been a computer and technology consultant since 2005 and has always had a lot of side projects. On Saturdays he wakes up at 6:00 a.m. to build websites and online communities. At 8:00 a.m. he wakes up his wife by singing a Smiths song and changing the lyrics to something about cloud-bunnies and “breaking wind”.

He is petting his cat and thinking of how he’ll give his client an edge. He thinks about how one can study computers or photography his entire life and never come close to learning it all. He thinks we have such advanced tools that we are just learning to make work for us. He knows that a holistic approach to creativity, problem solving and design is the most powerful way to find it.
